Otti puts 4,700 Pensioners On Free Medicals, restores electricity

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has ordered the immediate repair of the state’s electrical grid.

It has recently come to light that 4,700 state pensioners have enlisted in the state’s Health Insurance Sheme, making them eligible for free medical care at primary and secondary health institutions across the state.

Those who have signed up so far are retirees who did not rise above the rank of Deputy Director in the civil service before leaving for retirement.

Following the Commissioner’s briefing on the ministry’s recent actions, Governor Otti expressed her dismay that government buildings and offices had been left without power.

Dr. Okoronkwo had informed the Governor that the state’s general hospitals in Amachara, Okpuala Ngwa, and Umunnato, as well as a cottage hospital in Aba, had all been renovated thanks to the efforts of her ministry.

The Commissioner claimed that at various occasions, robbers had broken into hospitals and stolen equipment and other items intended to fulfil the health requirements of the people. This was made possible by the lack of security and sufficient lighting in the various institutions.
